The police are investigating a shooting incident Sunday along the access road to the No. 63 Beach on the Corentyne, in which Safraz Bacchus, 26 and of Line Path, Skeldon was shot in his groin.
Investigations revealed that Bacchus along with three friends were on their way to the No. 63 Beach when it is reported that a man on a bicycle came into contact with their vehicle. An argument ensued during which it is alleged that the cyclist pulled out a firearm and shot Bacchus and escaped.
Safraz Bacchus was admitted a patient at the Skeldon Hospital .
Meanwhile the police are investigating a fatal accident Sunday along the No. 45 Village, Corentyne public road which resulted in the death of pedestrian. Dead is Amorjet Persaud, of Yakusari South, Black Bush Polder.
Investigations revealed that a motor car driven by Gerald Depoo of Port Mourant was proceeding along the roadway when it is alleged that the 36 year old Persaud attempted to cross the road from behind a parked truck and was struck down. He was taken to the New Amsterdam Hospital where he died while receiving medical treatment. The driver of the motor car is in police custody assisting with the investigations.

Hometown pride and boxer Richie Mepranum captured the World Boxing Organization (WBO) Oriental flyweight title after beating Tanzanian Juma Seleman Fundi in “War in Sarangani” on June 14.
“Maasim has now a world champion,” Mayor Aniceto Lopez declared right after the Mepranum-Fundi fight, headlining the night event.
