Michael Jackson Hospitalized After Being Shot


The police are investigating a suspected attempt armed robbery on Michael Jackson which occurred Tuesday. Investigations so far revealed that Jackson who is employed with an interior charter service had gone to the Ogle Aerodrome to collect cargo and other items and was on his way out from the aerodrome in motor jeep when the incident occurred. In the vehicle with him were a flight dispatcher of the same charter service Margaret Maxius of William Street, Kitty, along with two female cleaners and a male porter who worked at the aerodrome and were being given a lift. Six UG Students Complete Archaeology Course


Six students from the University of Guyana (UG) have successfully completed an adventurous course in archaeology at Fair View in Region Eight and are willing to contribute to further developing the programme.
The students who are drawn from the Environmental Science and Tourism fields at UG are Diana Fernandes, Sheena Mark, Latoya Farinha, Lashanna Lillia, Louisa Daggers and Shebana Daniel. Read the full story

Miners Association, Home Affairs Minister Meet On Security


Home Affairs Minister Clement Rohee Tuesday met representatives of the Guyana Miners Association to discuss the security situation and the services offered them by the Guyana Police Force in the mining communities. Speaking to the media shortly before the meeting Rohee said that following the Lindo Creek incident which resulted in the murder of eight miners the association had expressed concern for the safety of its constituents.
The Minister said that meetings with the association first started in February this year following the Bartica Massacre. Read the full story

Rehearsals For CARIFESTA X Opening Ceremony Ongoing


Rehearsals are advancing for an anticipated impressive opening ceremony for the Caribbean Festival of Arts (CARIFESTA) X which is scheduled for August 22 at the Guyana National Stadium at Providence.

Irresponsible Activities Challenging Integrity Of Sea Defence


Chief Sea and River Defence Officer Agnes Dalrymple today said that the integrity of Guyana’s sea and river defence structures are being challenged through irresponsible practices of individuals on the reserves.

Nurses Among Those Defrauded In New Amsterdam


Allan Robert Gates known as Clive DeNobrega is wanted by the police for questioning in relation to a number of reports of obtaining money by false pretence. The 51 year old Gates who is the Director of the Confidential Investigation Bureau situated at Lot 8 St. Ann Street, New Amsterdam, Berbice and the CEO of Central Import and Export, have lured several persons to into investing large sums of money with Central Import Export.
