The Ministry of Labour’s Central Recruitment and Manpower Agency (CRMA) has placed 878 persons in jobs for the year.
Minister of Labour Manzoor Nadir said this represents an almost 80% in job placements. Jobs were found for 500 persons in the second quarter compared to almost 300 in the first quarter. The agency is seeking placement for 1200 other persons.
In the first quarter jobs were found for about 255 persons and about 303 persons were registered. Read the full story

The Guyana Power and Light (GPL) has taken steps to enhance its testing of meter accuracy through the introduction of the Spinlab Bird Dog Analyser (mobile Test Bench).
The media were given a demonstration of the new project Tuesday by GPL officials at the company’s Middle Street Office.
Present were Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of GPL Bharrat Dindyal, Director of Loss Reduction Samaroo Ramtahal and representatives of the Public Utilities Commission (PUC). Read the full story

Construction of the Ministry of Labour, Human Services and Social Security’s new building is progressing with work being done to frame curb walls, and shortly the columns will be erected.
About two weeks ago concrete for the foundation of the US$ 3M building was poured at the site at Princess and High Streets, Georgetown. Read the full story

One month after sealing a sponsorship deal with Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) the CARIFESTA Secretariat has won the support of Banks D’Aguiars Industries and Holdings (DIH) Limited.

The Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce and the Guyana Tourism Authority (GTA) are working diligently to promote sports tourism in the country as this will further assist in the development of domestic tourism. The Ministry and the GTA recently collaborated with other sponsors to host the Norman Singh Memorial horse racing event at No. 6 West Coast Berbice.
Indranauth Haralsingh, Director of the GTA noted that, horse racing is a very popular sport especially in the ancient county and proper management and promotional activities will help to develop this aspect of tourism. Read the full story
